Alberta Children's Hospital Takes Advantage of Nontraditional Design Philosophy
Different users, including children, were asked to participate in the process... By John Manes The new Alberta Children’s Hospital
is located on the western edge of
the campus of the University of Calgary. The commitment has been made
to develop the finest children’s hospital and children’s health network in
North America. With capital funding
of $253 million and a location that
provides strong support form the University of Calgary Medical School and
nearby Foothills Hospital this goal will
be achieved.
According to the architects Kasian
Architecture Interior Design & Planning the design goals are to develop
a functional, efficient, flexible, and
expandable hospital that provides true
family-centred care, in which the family is supported not only by the staff
providing care, but also by the building environment in which the care is

Spalding Hardware Featured in Architectural Openings Magazine
Spalding Hardware was recently featured in the February 2005 edition of Architectural Openings magazine. The article, titled Dreamers, and Risk Takers with Grand Ideas, describes the story of Spalding Hardware as one that really personifies Alberta and its entrepreneurial spirit.
