Installation Information
Door Closer Installation
Many of the better brands of door closer available today are multi sized to meet a number of door width, height, and pressure conditions. Manufacturers usually preset the spring power of these closers to a specified number identified in the installation instructions. It is important to individually adjust each closer after installation to ensure the proper operation for that specific door. Code Corner
Single Motion Exiting According to the Alberta
Building Code section 3.3.1.12.3 for public corridor exits and doors
providing access to exit from a suite:
"Except as permitted by Sentence (4), door release hardware shall be operable by one hand and the door shall be openable with not more than one releasing operation." In other words we can no longer specify a lock or latchset with a separate deadlock on these types of openings. Certain exceptions apply like residential entrances.
